2021 Annual General Meeting: Highlights

​Help a Buddy Fund held the 2021 Annual General Meeting on April 17. There were a few exciting changes that took place during this meeting, including a vote to decide which rescues were to be awarded the two 2020 grants, and some new additions to the board of directors. As well as awarding our General grant, we also awarded the Bella Bucks grant, which was in tribute to Jillanne Bowler-Veltman's beloved dog Bella (right), who tragically passed away last year

New Board Members

Help a Buddy Fund welcomed two new board members during the 2021 AGM. Bev Famulak has taken on the role of Fundraising Director and Becky Parak has taken on the role of Treasurer. Gennifer Reurink has moved from the role of Treasurer to Vice President. Welcome all!

Our Grants

General Grant

Our general grant directly supports the ongoing cost of animals in long term care (one year or more) in a rescue that is a registered charity within Alberta. We are proud to announce that we have awarded our General Grant to Saving Grace Animal Society in the amount of $1175.00. Saving Grace currently has 25 animals in long term foster care. One dog named Elliot (top right) is a forever foster who is paralyzed in his back end and will benefit from this grant.

Bella Bucks Grant

Bella Bucks is designed to help offset the cost of an emergency surgery for an animal in long-term care of an Albertan animal rescue group. We are excited to announce that we have granted Bella Bucks to Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCARS) in the amount of $1745.00. SCARS currently has 31 animals in long term foster care. Buster (right), who came into care with multiple injuries due to a snare trap and blunt force trauma, will benefit from this grant. He needs surgery to repair his fractured pelvis, has had his leg amputated, eye removed, and dental surgery so far.
