THE ANNUAL GRANT PROGRAM

In March of each year, Help a Buddy Fund opens up our granting program to eligible animal welfare groups in Alberta. We offer two granting streams and our goal is to distribute a minimum of $4000 per year through this program. Rescue groups must:

• Have a purpose to rehabilitate and rehome (or provide sanctuary) to animals in need
• Be a registered charity operating in Alberta
• Have at least one animal which is in long-term foster or sanctuary care (one year minimum)
  
  
  

Recipients are selected through an application process and carefully chosen based on the highest need. 

Year-round, we partner with rescues all over Alberta to host joint fundraisers that will benefit animals in need and provide financial benefit to rescuers. The fundraising portion Help a Buddy Fund retains is funneled back into our granting program in combination with donations gifted to our cause.

Our 2026 Annual Grant Funding is Open for Applications

Our 2026 grant program is open for applications! We encourage all interested parties to apply for the funding available.

Available Funds: $2,900.00

BELLA BUCKS GRANT
Available Funds: $2,225.00

WHO CAN APPLY?

Animal rescue groups who meet the following criteria may apply for one of our grants offered:

• Operates within Alberta, Canada
• Non-profit organizations registered as a federal charity with Canada Revenue Agency
• Organizations whose primary purpose involves animal rescue, animal adoption and/or humane animal care
• Animal welfare groups who have a minimum of one animal in care for more than a year at the time of application
• Applicants may apply for only one of our two granting streams

NEXT STEPS

If you would like to proceed in applying for one of our grants, please fill out the appropriate application and follow instructions for submission. All grants must be submitted by March 31, 2026 at 11:59pm to be considered. 

​Please ensure your application is complete before submission. Incomplete applications, including missing attachments, will not be considered for the funding and you will not be alerted to corrections needed.

If your application is selected for a second review, it will be presented at our Annual General Meeting in April 2026 for voting purposes to select the recipient of the appropriate grant. Each applicant for our grant program will be notified by electronic mail regarding the decision of whether they have been awarded the funds requested before or on April 30, 2026.
